Cool Leith Arches Wedding & Calton Hill Photoshoot
Join me in celebrating Claire and Craig, who got hitched at the unique Edinburgh wedding venue, Leith Arches in June, and they didn’t let the Scottish summer stop them from taking advantage of a photoshoot at the iconic viewpoint, Calton Hill.

Let’s do it!
Hi, I’m Gemma, and I adore capturing fun couples in love.
Check out my portfolio here.
Leith Arches Wedding
My day starts in Fife, documenting the final touches of the hair and make-up, a first look with the bridesmaids, and a flat lay featuring a pendant remembering Claire’s dad.
It is quite an emotional morning, but Claire’s sister and best friend shout rude and funny comments to get her focus back on track.
Then it’s a race over the Forth Bridges (me taking the Queensferry and Claire in a taxi over the Forth) to Leith Arches, where wedding guests attending the intimate ceremony are ready to take their seats upstairs.
Claire is accompanied down the aisle by Craig’s son.
At the bottom she meets her husband-to-be in front of a colourful streamer circle framed by the huge arch windows of this quirky venue.
Sarah, The Groovy Humanist, marries the couple who literally tie the knot with a traditional hand-fasting ritual during which they share their vows.
After the couple says “I do”, guests enjoy canapés and a glass of fizz before a few quick family photos.

Calton Hill Wedding Photoshoot
The media team and the couple drive up to Calton Hill, accompanied by an umbrella that Claire’s bridesmaid packed last minute, to capture those dramatic city scenes with Edinburgh Castle and the Balmoral Clock in the backdrop.
International visitors are surprised and excited to see a real Scottish wedding, and a groom in a kilt!
This Edinburgh wedding also got a lot of attention on teh Royal Mile.

Leith Arches Reception
Then it’s back down to Leith where the “evening” guests (starting at 3pm) await the newlyweds with a confetti circle, which is heaps of fun to capture, dare I say I prefer it to a confetti tunnel…
It was definitely time to fuel up by this point, which is ideal as the catering team has fired up the BBQ.
Taking advantage of a break in the rain, the media team sneak out to catch city shots with Edinburgh trams in the background before the couple returns for speeches, a first dance, and cake cutting.
Now it’s my cue to slip into my dress and become a wedding guest, which is not the norm, but I’m good pals with both Claire and Craig!I do carry out more than one job before clocking off, snapping guests for the “Put the Shades on and Pose” TikTok trend video, which came out a treat!
If you are interested in trends and transition videos, check out this Glasgow wedding too.
Craig and Claire receive their wedding media, which includes hundreds of lightly edited iPhone images, video snippets with sound, and ready-to-post reels/TikToks at 15:41.
